HOLA ✨🌈

MY FRIENDS ALSO CALL ME JUAN CA

Visual Storyteller and Strategic Designer (M.A.) with 6+ years of experience creating impactful projects that feel meaningful , innovative and sustainble, enhancing innovative forms of visual storytelling. Master in Strategic Design and future thinking, with 2+ years applying foresight methodologies, systems thinking, and research-led design across innovation, service design, and purpose-driven projects.

My core practice is visual storytelling. I work across data visualisation, visual storytelling,  photography, film, UI and UX, and editorial design to craft meaningful stories that make complexity emotional, and sustainable. I specialise in transforming research, strategy, and creative briefs into strong visual languages for organisations working across innovation, art, culture, design, and social impact.

I am driven to deepen my craft in visual and strategic communication while creating value through strategic and design thinking methodologies, having extensive experience and passion working in cross-cultural environments, including design agencies, studios, cultural institutions, innovation labs, and mission-led organisations where storytelling, design, and impact intersect.

IN VISUAL TERMS THIS IS MY DESIGN THINKING

I’m currently diversifying my practice through open projects as a creative freelance designer, while also actively supporting cultural and community initiatives. I volunteer as a creative casual chef with Über den Tellerrand every now then in last two years in Berlin, passion that was inherited during my time supporting refugee and asylum seekers through food storytelling at Free To Feed in Melbourne - Australia. I’m also part of Nodo Alemania, contributing to the visibility of Latin American cultural projects, and I support events such as the “Festival de Cine Colombiano Migrante”, where art, memory, and identity converge to build dialogue between diasporas.

I am Latin American soul, from Bogotá, Colombia 🇨🇴, and deeply passionate about exploring more authentic, genuine, and ethical ways to experience culture. For me this irrevocably means:

Music and food to storytelling, much like Anthony Bourdain (Kitchen Confidential, Parts Unknown).

Visual Narratives has always been my other school - a way of understanding life through the power of storytelling. I find myself in films like Embrace of the Serpent (COL), Nueve Reinas (ARG), Fitzcarraldo (GER), Cinema Paradiso (ITA), The Eight Mountains (ITA), Cold War (POL), Good Bye Lenin (GER), and El Poeta (COL) stories that remind us the power of human connection with love, and the fragile beauty of human ventures.

I believe travelling takes many forms, and for me, the closest one is migration - a universal right. My journey has been gentle compared to those who cross seas in search of a better future, yet it taught me that movement connects us on a deeply human level. Travelling, in any sense, can become a collective and ethical act of resistance - one that honours First Nations people, Indigenous lands, and the power of diversity in the world. This mindset - grounded in empathy, curiosity, and respect continues to shape the way I design and collaborate...

Let’s connect grab a coffee if you happen to be in Berlin, Melbourne (sometimes), or Bogotá (I try to be there twice a year). Or let’s chat virtually to get to know each other - we never know which future we might shape together.
